Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,” and Vinyasa yoga is a series of poses that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Vinyasa movements are smoothly flowing and almost dance-like, which explains why it is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or just Flow.
Vinyasa Flow began as Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga by a Yogi named Sri Tirumala Krishnamacharya. He was given a place to teach yoga and eventually taught a young boy named Parrabhi Jois his learnings on the power of breathing. Jois then established an institute for practicing the specific form of Vinyasa yoga.
Like all styles of yoga, Vinyasa has both mental and physical benefits. Physically, sweat expels toxins and re-energizes your body. Mentally, the synchronized breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body.
Is it for Beginners? Absolutely! A Vinyasa class is both a great place to start and to continue challenging yourself. If you don’t love Vinyasa after your first class, try other teachers as one class can vary significantly from the next. If you like to focus on the power of breathing and flowing movement through poses, you will enjoy the Vinyasa style.
Plunge pool is one of those beautiful pools of water you sometimes see at the base of a waterfall. It derives its name from the fact that it is formed by the “plunging” of water, creating a natural plunge basin. As everybody who has had the privilege of enjoying a naturally occurring plunge pool knows, they are usually the perfect depth and width for splashing around in, larger than a spa/whirlpool, but not as large as a swimming pond. This amenity is built for the purpose of lounging, wading and cooling off instead of for swimming and exercising. Enjoy!
Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body.

From our Master Swim program to Water Aerobic exercises, working out in the pool is an excellent non-impact way to build strength, reduce body fat, and increase flexibility. As you participate in water aerobics classes, you can easily burn 200 – 300 calories* while also reducing your risk of injury compared to other forms of exercise such as running, weight lifting, or contact sports.
In addition to the standard benefits of any exercise, the use of water in water aerobics supports the body and reduces the risk of muscle or joint injury. The mitigation of gravity by flotation places less stress on the joints when stretching, and can allow a greater range of motion. The mitigation of gravity makes water aerobics safe for individuals able to keep their heads out of water, including the elderly. Exercise in water can also prevent overheating through continuous cooling of the body. The classes last for 45-55 minutes.
Salsa is a popular form of social dance that originated in New York with strong influences from Latin America, particularly Cuba and Puerto Rico. Fuse that with cardio vascular training and you have a super fun way to work out!
